Hi all,

I've been thinking about this for a couple of days, and I'm wondering if it'spossible for the admins to allow users with an older version of team talk (for example, team talk 3) to access the surver? If it is, why not implement it? Just my thoughts on the matter:

The new version isn't compatible with the old one. And, why would we do that? Jsut install the new one?

Besides, if you read the TeamTalk help file, you would know that you can't do that. LOL

From memory, the voice chat was only brought back because the latest version of TeamTalk is suitable for the Zone. If an older version were compatible then don't you think it would have been brought back much sooner? It's not hard to upgrade to the latest version so it shouldn't matter that older versions don't work with it.

well, I would install it, but unfortunetly I've got admin restrictions on my laptop. So there's no way I can do this. If I had admin rights, I'd install it, but as it is, I'm stuck with the older version.

Can it be installed to a thumb drive? I really don't know.

If it's your own laptop, how are you restricted?

I can't believe this. The help file explicitly states that you have to have the newest version of team talk to go onto the server. You can't make older versions compatible. If it says that you need the newest version, then install the newest version and don't complain about it. It's not that difficult. And as far as the admin rights go, you can log in as administrator and install it that way.

Lol Michael. I would log in as admin, but I don't have a username and password, and there's no way in hell I'm gonna get one from my school.

Ok, I'm confused. lol Is this your aptop, or is it the school's? If it's the school's laptop, then I can understand why you can't get the newest version of team talk. Otherwise, I'd say just to get it and stop complaining. lol

it's the school's laptop. if I could just get a portible version and copy the ap's folder to my local disk, I'd be ok.

Ah. Well, if you ave a desktop at home, maybe you could pu team talk on there. Alternatively, you could have the school upgrade team talk on your laptop since you already have team talk installed. That shouldn't be a problem, I don't think. lol

hmm. I'll talk to my VI and see what the ITS guys can do about that. And as for a desktop, only my brothers have one, and there in need of replacing and don't have jaws on them.

And, btw, if I can upgrade teamTalk on this laptop, I will. But for now, I'll use what I have and shut the fuck up. lol!

This may be a rather stupid question, but how did you get TeamTalk installed on your laptop in the first place? I wouldn't have thought the school would let you install stuff like that, but I may be wrong.

Post 18 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Wednesday, 17-Mar-2010 16:51:26

Maybe that's my issue with getting on the server then? Maybe I don't have the latest version of TeamTalk? What is the latest version.

By the way, I actually had complete admin rights on my school laptop. I was a bit surprised of that, but I did, so I could install anything I wanted to.

I sure wish our school gave us laptops, but they give us these crapy stupid voice-notes and braille-notes, which don't have internet access, and can't use any voice clients!
